Cook County Gives Metra $5M Toward Roseland Station Modernization

The Cook County Board of Commissioners has approved a $5-million allocation to Metra that’s intended to support a $38-million modernization project for the commuter rail system’s station at 95th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue in Roseland, the Chicago Business Journal reported.

The station, built in 1920, is adjacent to the campus of Chicago State University.

“This modernization project is one of several initiatives to increase business activity and improve quality of life along the 95th Street Corridor,” Jennifer Killen, superintendent of the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, told the Journal. “Improving transit helps make nearby sites more attractive for residential and commercial development.”
