Kidnapping Survivor Elizabeth Smart Slams Captor Wanda Barzee: ‘She Has Not Changed’

Kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart slammed one of her captors, Wanda Barzee , on Tuesday, claiming the bizarre criminal hasn’t changed, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Barzee, who along with her husband, Brian David Mitchell , kidnapped Smart in 2002 and repeatedly raped her for nine months, was scheduled for a parole hearing on Tuesday, June 12. The former kidnapper was denied release this week but is expected to be released in 2024.

Smart said she was happy to know her capturer would remain behind bars but revealed that Barzee is still behaving dangerously while locked up.
“I have recently learned that she is still carrying around a manuscript called The Book of Immanuel David Isaiah and is reading from it,” Smart revealed. “In this manuscript were the ‘revelations’ Mitchell ‘received’ from God to kidnap myself and 6 other young girls to all become his wives.”
Smart said the book includes “highly disturbing and dangerous ideas.” The survivor said this certainly does not lower Barzee’s threat level to society.

“This is proof to me that she hasn’t changed, and if the prior 15+ years hasn’t changed her I don’t see how the future years will,” Smart said.
As Radar readers know, Smart revealed in her memoir earlier this year that she contemplated suicide while kidnapped .
Sources revealed to Radar in March that the creepy kidnapper was even hunting new victims behind prison bars.

Smart, who is now happily married and has one daughter, left her scathing analysis of Barzee’s behavior on a positive note.
“A lot can happen between now and the years to come so in the meantime, I will continue to make my family my priority, working to advocate and protect victims and children, and live my life the best way I know how.”
Barzee could be released on parole earlier than 2024. The former kidnapping victim said that’s “hopefully not” the case.
