The founder and CEO of XS Tennis Village in Chicago wants to build an $11-million housing complex on vacant, city-owned land that players, their families and support staff could use while training and attending events at the facility, according to the Chicago Business Journal.

Chicago City Council this week heard a proposal from Kamau Murray, CEO of the XS Tennis and Education Foundation, for development of a trio of two-unit buildings and 17 townhomes at 5400 S. Dearborn St. in Bronzeville through Murray’s Chicago-based Center Court Development LLC, the Business Journal reported.

The proposal entails Center Court paying $302,000 for 1.1 acres of land adjacent to XS Tennis Village. A decision on the proposed land sale is expected at the city council’s April 19 meeting
